Ostia Antica Castle near Rome - picture taken by students themselves

Near Rome there is “Ostia Antica” a little village famous because it used to be the seaport of the ancient Romans.

In this village there is the big castle known as “ Giulio IInd  Castle” with around high and solid walls.

The castle was built around 1.400 A.D. commissioned by Bishop Giulio IInd.

It was very important because it gave the possibility to defend the Tiber river and the people around the village from the enemy's army.

When the wars finished, the castle became famous as Customs House and in 1.800 it then hosted prisoners who worked at the Roman ancient ruins excavations.

Today the Castle of Ostia Antica is visited by many tourists and students.
